“I’m responsible for managing the financial price risk created for the Gas and Power group in North America. We use financial derivatives to hedge exposure created from our Liquid Natural Gas group, and the upstream business unit. I have a Bachelors degree in Business from Texas A&M University.
To succeed in this job, I would say that strong math skills are essential. It’s important to be able to evaluate the cause and effects of various fundamentals in the gas and power markets.
Financial markets are constantly moving and to pursue a career in trading you need to build an understanding of how and why these markets are changing. It’s when you understand ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’ that you can bring new trade ideas to the team.
Working for Total offers exposure to many different aspects of trading. I have the freedom to discover new markets and become successful as a trader. My favorite part of the job is having the ability to manage the financial risks of a major oil and gas company. And I’m always surprised at the speed and pace at which this market constantly changes.”
