Inspiration, photo challenge, presentations and more at the GSF

'Sustainability: green engineering and beyond’ was the theme of this year’s Global Student Forum (GSF) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Sponsoring the event for the 5th consecutive year, Total supported two students from the Board of European Technology (BEST) as well as previous Team Total recipients from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Indonesia, to attend.

Representing Total on the spot, Gatien Courcelle, Solar Business Developer from Total Solar, based in Myanmar, introduced the audience to the process for developing a solar power plant. Meanwhile, Mickael Scherrer, Total’s International University Relations Project Manager, enjoyed meeting students from around the world and discussing the future of energy with the next generation of energy professionals. He shared news of current opportunities and gave a presentation on Total, focusing on the Group’s ambition to become the energy major, and Total’s involvement at the event. “The GSF is a great chance to meet students from all over the world to share experiences and opinions about the future of engineering education and the challenges of the future. Sustainability is a very important topic for Total, so it is great to see delegates engaging with this topic here.”

The fun GSF social media challenge organized by the Total Campus team invited delegates to tag and share their favorite moments of the event, offering students and energy enthusiasts who were not present a glimpse of the action. Career opportunities and Team Total were hot topics at the Total video stand, and Team Banda were in demand for their advice about how to make the most of a Team Total application after their well-received presentation.

“We thank BEST and Total for working together to make it possible for our team to attend the 2017 GSF. It’s been a great chance to share our knowledge on engineering education and learn from others too. This opportunity to convene and work with different global minds for the next generation of engineering education is very important for my future," said Vicky, one of the BEST students sponsored by Total to attend the GSF, where she also took on the role of a track facilitator.
