Total sponsors the GEDC Industry Forum
Last week in Fontainebleau, near Paris, France, engineering Deans and industry leaders gathered to exchange, learn and share ideas about how best to develop the next generation of engineers. Andrew Hogg, Total’s Director of Education and Vincent Saubestre, VP Group R&D Strategy & Intelligence, joined other delegates from global companies, along with engineering Deans from around the world for the 3-day event.
Kicking off the event, Vincent Saubestre shared his insights for the ‘Engineer of the Future’ panel, discussing creative ways for faculty and industry to work together to develop the skills that the engineers of the future will need. Zinyat, a Total sponsored student at IFP School in France offered a student perspective by presenting the results of the global ‘Education of the Future’ survey, on the skills and activities considered important for success in the labor market.
Andrew Hogg hosted a Dynamic Design Group on the topic: ‘Educating Engineering Leaders’, working with a small group to develop a common understanding of ethical leadership skills and how these skills can be learnt at university. Reflecting on the action-packed and productive Forum, Andrew said, “Creating a talented and qualified pipeline of engineering talent is a cornerstone of Total’s commitment to better energy. We were delighted to sponsor the GEDC Industry Forum, and contribute to developing creative yet practical ways to equip the next generation of engineers with the skills that we will need.”
